Balance 620
Description
Our long-distance, off-the-grid, expeditionary speedster was uniquely designed to carry significant cruising payloads without bogging down. She’s the evolution of our very first Carbon Cross catamaran built in 2010, the Balance 601. She is also the first forward cockpit catamaran we’ve ever created, but with a unique twist - she also carries our much-copied VersaHelm. She therefore offers all of the advantages of a forward cockpit without suffering through the disadvantages.
The 620’s DNA remains the same as the 601, but she carries the many fruits of our innovations made at Balance over the last decade. We designed her specifically for off-the-grid expeditionary surfing, diving, and kite-surfing adventures in some of the most remote places on earth. Her hulls are more strongly flared than our smaller catamarans to enable her to carry significant fuel stores, equipment, dive tanks, kayak’s, a big tender and outboard.
The Balance 620 design brief was quite simple: build the fastest luxury performance catamaran for adventurers to carry the largest amount of equipment possible.
The amazing thing about the new 620 is that she remains a wind-speed performer, coming in at just 43,000 lbs due to our highly advanced, labor intensive e-glass, carbon, foam core, full epoxy fabrication. Our Carbon Cross + versions are even lighter, while our full carbon XP version are lighter still.
We’ve updated her looks, narrowed her profile, raised her clearance, and created a forward cockpit with an opening door so that one can enjoy the benefits of a forward cockpit when the weather is fair, but step back to the starboard bulkhead to pilot her when it isn’t. Just another example of Balance innovation at its finest.
