Doug Peterson co-designed Black Magic with Laurie Davidson to win the 1995 America's Cup and he passed away on the day his former teammates won the 35th Match in Bermuda. Nothing about Peterson was conventional... especially the rapidly thrown-together One Tonner with which he ripped up the rulebook in the summer of 1973. Tim Jeffery remembers his friend of close to 40 years
