Saint-Tropez just celebrated its 25th edition of today’s Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez with fleets of maxi, modern and classic yachts bringing 250 boats and thousands of sailors to the small town. It’s also 40 years since the first maxis raced here, when the early October regatta was then known as the Nioulargue. That was the first time maxis raced in France and it became a showcase event for classic boat owners and enthusiasts. Many decaying classic yachts were restored simply to be there.
