Description
One of the most iconic S&S Swan designs of all the time with 76 hulls built between 1972 and 1975. A fibreglass IOR Sloop by Sparkman & Stephens, the Swan 44 S&S was first introduced by Nautor’s Swan at the 1972 fall boat shows, at the London Boat show she was awarded the “Boat of the Yacht Show”, the first in history of a non-British built boat won.
FOUR WINDS is hull 14 and was launched in June 1973 for her English owner with the original name of FOUR WINDS II. During the 80s she was owned from a French yachtsman who sailed the boat between France and Caribbean. In 2001 an Italian owner bought her and completed the first big refit with a new forward cabin restyling creating a large king-size double berth. Following this refit, FOUR WINDS II passed through another Italian ownership before ending up in the hands of a Dutch owner who renamed her MOHAWK. In 2014, she was sold again to a passionate Danish S&S Swan aficionado who changed her name back to FOUR WINDS before embarking on a comprehensive refit and upgrade programme at the Caffarena Boatyard in Italy which is renowned within S&S Swan circles for their work on S&S Swan 44’s. Unfortunately, due to work and life getting in the way, her Danish owner was unable to enjoy the fruits of his labour, so FOUR WINDS was sold by Grabau International in 2020 to her current Italian owner who continued the programme of update and refit as well as enjoying sailing her in the Mediterranean over the past few seasons.
FOUR WINDS offers a great opportunity to acquire a ‘turn key’ classic Swan, eligible to take part in some of the most iconic regattas and yachting rendezvous across the Med’ and further afield.
